Richard Holinger’s poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and book reviews have appeared in The Southern Review, The Iowa Review, Boulevard, Witness, and been nominated for three Pushcart Prizes. His collection, Not Everybody's Nice, won the 2012 Split Oak Press Flash Prose Chapbook Contest. An innovative fiction chapbook, Hybrid Seeds: Little Fictions, was published by Kattywampus Press. A collection of his newspaper columns, Kangaroo Rabbits and Galvanized Fences, by Dreaming Big Press, 2020. Recently retired after forty years at Marmion Academy (Aurora IL), he currently facilitates a writing workshop and lives with his wife, dog, and occasionally his two adult children in the Fox River Valley, an hour west of Chicago. Degrees include a Ph.D. in Creative Writing from The University of Illinois at Chicago, and an M.A. in English from Washington University (St. Louis). Before teaching full time, he worked as a busboy, stock boy, groundskeeper, and security guard.
