When not gazing out the window at her garden, the birds, and the mountains beyond, Gina Malone works as editor of an arts magazine, and writes poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction.
Awards and recognition include the Sidney Lanier Poetry competition, James Applewhite Poetry contest, and Elizabeth Simpson Smith short story contest. Her work is published in Kakalak, Poetry South, Streetlight Magazine, and Quartet, among others. At the onset of the COVID shutdown, she set herself the task of writing a poem a day about the pandemic and wrote more than 800 before she was done.
She counts among her greatest life experiences 19 years owning a cozy, secondhand bookstore in the Blue Ridge Mountains where she was able to indulge her love of reading, talk to other booklovers and writers, and still call it a job.
