Long before her recent 80th birthday, Caroline Bassett transplanted herself from Hoboken, New Jersey, to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she lives happily writing poetry and gardening during the growing season. Even before that relocation, she served in the Peace Corps in Casablanca, Morocco, for two years where she taught English as a Foreign Language. Her poems, one of which was nominated for a Pushcart Prize, have appeared in several journals. In 2021, she was chosen for and completed the Loft Literary Center’s Year-Long Writing Project in Poetry. Five years ago, she organized “Good Hearts,” a book group that reads a poetry collection every other month. Carrie also chairs Literary Witnesses, an almost thirty-year old public poetry series sponsored by a prominent church.
