Lucy Sage began writing poetry at a young age. Born in Philadelphia, she subsequently lived in the Philippines and Nigeria while her father worked for the United Nations. She attended boarding school in Folkestone, England in the mid-sixties but dropped out of high school in 1969, leaving for San Francisco.

After waitressing and living in Bennington, Vermont and Cocoa Beach, Florida, she finally received a B.A. in Art Education and M.P.A. from Penn State. Although public administration was not her strong suit, public policy was, and she worked for politicians for 30 years. In addition to creating poetry, Sage likes to paint portraits and abstracts, walk, and explore cities. She is also at work on a memoir. Recently, she lived in St. Petersburg, Florida for eight years and contributed a number of poems to Neptune, a local poetry and art magazine. In 2023, she returned to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where she has lived for most of her life. Her poems are published in Quail Bell, The Closed Eye Open, Underwood Press, and Writing in a Woman’s Voice, among others.
