Bob Ambrose Jr. is an environmental engineer retired from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Research and Development. He has been writing poetry since 2009 and has been active in the Athens, Georgia Word of Mouth spoken word community. Bob has been the featured reader at events in Athens, Cincinnati, and Austin, including churches, bookshops, bars, and gardens. He presented two multimedia poetry readings at the 2025 Wild Goose Festival in Harmony, NC.
Bob’s first book, Journey to Embarkation—A Reflection in Poetry (Parson’s Porch Books, 2016), looks back on his life as a journey, reflecting on departures and encounters along the way. His second book, Between Birdsong and Boulder—Poems on the Life of Gaia (Kelsay Books, 2024),covers the science-based story of the cosmos in lyric form. Bob lives with his wife by the Oconee River in Athens, and travels to England to visit his daughter's family and indulge his two granddaughters.
