R.J. Hejna is of French, German, and Czechoslovakian descent. He holds a master’s degree from University of Michigan, where he received a Hopwood Award for a book of poetry in 1979. From 1979 to 1982, he read his work as part of performances by a collective of dancers, pianist, and photographer called Solo Alliance. His poems have appeared in periodicals such as Bardic Echoes, Penwood Review, Encore, and Sow’s Ear.
