The poems of Enough to Drink or Drown describe events that leave a permanent chasm, but one around which green and beautiful things have grown, as the more recent poems indicate. Tom Schmidt is now a retired humanities teacher who lives in East Montpelier, Vermont, embraced by natural beauty, a loving family, good friends, and grace. His diverse publications include seven nonfiction books, an essay collection, two novels, numerous journal articles, and more than fifty poems in literary journals. This is his first poetry collection. He hopes it is not his last.
