Sandra Brodkin Dreis belongs to a critique group at Winston Salem Writers. She attended Bread Loaf School of English, The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and is a graduate of Hofstra University. Following a career in Theatre in N.Y.C., Sandra taught drama and poetry for the Winston Salem–Forsyth County Arts Connection Team. Her debut young adult novel, The Ecowarriors—The Bluffs of Baraboo, received a Silver Nautilus Award in 2016 and a stellar Kirkus Review.
In 2024, Kelsay Books published two of her chapbooks: Cultured Pearls and Dry-Docked in New Jersey. Sandra’s poetry also appears in such journals as: Flying South, Poetry in Plain Sight, The Main Street Rag, Kakalak, North Carolina Literary Review, Chrysalis Anthology, and Ravensperch. Jillie, her Jack Russell terrier, has been known to edit her work.
