Susan Blair is a poet and writer in Wenatchee, Washington. Her first full-length collection is A Howling (Press53, 2023), a Tom Lombardo Poetry Selection, and her first chapbook is What Remains of a Life (Finishing Line Press, 2018). Her poems appear in Kakalak, Spank the Carp, San Pedro River Review, Spillway 29, From Whispers to Roars, and elsewhere.
Susan founded and edits The Shrub-Steppe Poetry Journal, an annual anthology of north central Washington poets’ work since 2019. She established and hosts Poetry Underground, a monthly open mic, as well as other local public readings. For over two years, she wrote a column called “Poetry Matters” for The Good Life magazine. She currently writes “Poetry Pocket” essays for Write on the River’s monthly newsletter.
In addition, Susan writes poems for children. Her illustrated rhyming narrative, The Honking Hattables, was published in 2025. She’s also written Perri the Poetry Fairy Presents Poetry for Kids, a series of five activity books in ascending order of difficulty.
She earned a BA in German and Russian from Middlebury College in Vermont.
