Edward A. Dougherty graduated from Penn State with a BA in English and worked for a few years before moving to Bowling Green, Ohio, to pursue an MFA. He and the love of his life devoted two and a half years to volunteering for peace as the directors of the World Friendship Center in Hiroshima, Japan. To reacclimate to US culture and to discern their next steps, they spent nearly a year at Pendle Hill, the Quaker Center for Contemplation and Study outside of Philadelphia. They now live in the southern Finger Lakes region of upstate New York.

Dougherty is the author of a collection of essays called Journey Work: Crafting a Life of Poetry and Spirit (Loyola College/Apprentice House, 2021) and the co-author of Double Bloom: Exercises for Poets (Pearson, 2006) with Scott Minar. He has published many collections of poetry, including Grace Street (Cayuga Lake Books, 2016) and 10048 (Finishing Line Press, 2019). This book appears the same year as his Selected Poems from FutureCycle Press. Dougherty was granted the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Scholarship and Creative Activities.
