
Writer, performing artist, and board-certified dance / movement therapist Charise M. Hoge received her MA in Dance Therapy from New York University and her MSW from the University of Georgia. She is the author of Striking Light from Ashes (Finishing Line Press, 2017) and Muse in a Suitcase (Kelsay Books, 2021).
Her poetry is also featured in Next Line, Please: Prompts to Inspire Poets and Writers (edited by David Lehman, Cornell University Press, 2018), as well as notable literary journals. She is co-author of Meet Your Muse: The Dance of Creativity (Springtime Books, 2024) and A Portable Identity: Your Guide to Taking Charge of Change Abroad (Transition Press International, 2005, revised edition forthcoming).
Charise resides in the Washington, DC area and, at times, in the Appalachian Mountains—where she is poet-in-residence for the annual Art on Cullers Run (Mathias, West Virginia).
