After a 1976 college course with poet Dave Smith, Victoria Garton began publishing in such journals as Cimarron Review, Prairie Schooner, and Quarterly West. Her newest chapbook, Venice Comes Clean (Flying Ketchup Press, 2023), features her poems and her son John’s watercolors of Venice, Italy. Chapbook Pout of Tangerine Tango (Finishing Line Press, 2022) features poems written during a Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad Program in Eastern Europe, and her full-length collection Kisses in the Raw Night (BkMk Press, 1989) features early poems. Anthologies Somewhere Between KC/MO and East St. Lou (Spartan Press, 2022) and Of Our Own Accord (Flying Ketchup Press, 2024) have published her work. She won 2nd place for The Grantchester Award, The Orchards Poetry Journal, Winter 2024. Retired from teaching composition and literature for Crowder College, she continues to recover from a stroke and lives on a cattle ranch in southwest Missouri with husband Norman.
