Jean Colonomos began her career in the Arts first as a ballerina-in-training and then as a member of the Martha Graham Dance Company. Dancer choreographer Agnes de Mille called Ms. Graham “the Picasso of the Modern Dance World.” Joseph Campbell, the renowned scholar on mythology, called Graham a genius in creating dances based on mythological and biblical women. It was Ms. Colonomos’s privilege and life-long dream to dance with Martha Graham. Jean Colonomos lived dance and then wrote about it for various publications in New York City during the 1960s and ’70s and segued into writing poetry and plays. Her chapbook, Art Farm, was published by Finishing Line Press. Her works—about dance and other subjects—have been featured in several publications and seven of her eight plays have been performed nationally and in Europe.
