Peggy Schimmelman is the poet laureate of Livermore, CA. Her work includes the poetry chapbooks Crazytown (Writing Knights Press, 2016) and Tick-Tock (Finishing Line Press, 2019) and the novels Insomniacs, Inc. (Russian Hill Press, 2022) and Whippoorwills (Independent, 2015). She is co-author of Long Stories Short (Independent, 2017) and Two Truths and a Lie (Independent, 2020) by Wild Vine Writers. Her poetry and short fiction have appeared in the North American Review, Naugatuck River Review, Peregrine, WinningWriters.com, the Aleola Journal of Poetry and Art, Haight Ashbury Literary Journal, Pacific Review, Comstock Review, the Wild Musette, 100wordstories.org, and others.
This collection of poems reflects her life-long love of music. She is a percussionist in the volunteer band Heart Strings and has written songs with Livermore singer/songwriter Patrick Russ, including “Make Me Your Love Song,” adapted from “A Poem in Three,” which was originally published in Wild Musette Journal. The song was recorded by the duo Patrick and Leanne, featuring the beautiful vocals of Leanne Phillips. The song can be heard on various digital platforms.
