Maurine Haltiner taught high school English for 33 years. She has a BA and an MA in English from the University of Utah with minors in linguistics and music. She has two published books of poetry: A Season and a Time (first-place publication prize from the Utah State Poetry Society—2004) and Every Angle of Moonshine—2017 (Kelsay Books). She has a published YA novel, Truth Windows—2006. In both 2012 and 2014 she received the first-place grand prize in NFSPS Poetry Competition. She was also 3rd place (honorable mention) in the 2017 Utah Arts Council Original Writing Competition. She participated in a Westminster semester poetry class taught by visiting poet Jill McDonough. Maurine has been a workshop presenter/reader for the Utah State Poetry Society, Redrock Writers Seminar, Rumi Poetry Festival, and 2019 Utah Poetry Festival. Her poems have been published in Nine One One: Poems for September 11, Byline, Panorama, Encore, Passager, Friends of Great Salt Lake, Grandmother Earth, UCTE Journal, and Lascaux Prize, Vol. 5.
