Marianne Smith Johnson holds a BA from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, and a law degree from Hastings College of the Law. She is married with two children, and she is a practicing attorney in San Diego, CA. Her family enjoys the desert outdoors, camping and exploring the varied wilderness of California. In addition to the journals Calyx, Sport Literate, The Kerf, Slant, and New Millennium Writings, her poetry also appears in the anthologies Lavanderia: A Mixed Load of Women, Wash and Word; A Year in Ink, by San Diego Writers, Ink; and Mamas and Papas: On the Sublime and Heartbreaking Art of Parenting. She recently appeared in The Far East Project anthology, a collection of prose and poetry showcasing life and art in San Diego’s east county. The ten-page manuscript of this chapbook, Tender Collisions, was a finalist in the annual San Diego Book Awards in June 2013.
