Born in England, after formative training in newspaper journalism and the visual arts, Ian Trowell emigrated on his own to Canada at the age of 20. He began writing poetry while freelancing as poetry reviews columnist for the Montreal Gazette in the 1960s. He has lived and worked in cities, towns and villages across Canada and currently resides in London, Ontario with his wife, Angela.
