Nancy Lubarsky has been an educator for over 35 years. She has served in various roles as teacher, curriculum supervisor, principal, adjunct professor, and retired as a school superintendent. Nancy holds a Doctorate in English Education from Rutgers. She has published articles in several academic journals, frequently on the subject of teaching poetry. In 2006, The English Journal called Nancy’s 2002 article, “Poetry as a Lens: Alternate Ways of Seeing the Novel,” one of 10 watershed articles written by practicing teachers (1912–2005) that “deserve to be reread and restudied in the present.”

Nancy has received recognition from the Allen Ginsberg Poetry Awards in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2024 and from the Anna David Rosenberg Awards in 2018. She has been nominated three times for a Pushcart Prize. Most recently, this manuscript, Truth to the Rumors, was chosen as one of five finalists among 200 submissions for the 2023 Laura Boss Narrative Poetry Award.

Nancy has been published in various journals, including Edison Literary Review, Lips, Comstock Review, Poetica, Tiferet, Exit 13, Stillwater Review, Paterson Literary Review, Shotglass Journal, Silver Birch Press, and US1 Worksheets. 

She writes from Cranford, New Jersey and is grateful for the love, encouragement and inspiration from her husband, Donald; her children, Meg, Jesse, and Gregory; her son-in-law, Matt; her grandchildren, Ben and Samantha; and her dog, Penny.
