Peter Schireson grew up in California, earned a B.A. from UC Berkeley, an M.Ed. at University of Victoria, and an Ed.D. from Harvard University. After retiring from a career, first in education and later in business, he returned to school to earn an MFA in Poetry from The Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College.
In addition to poems in journals, he has published four chapbooks, The Welter of Me and You, The Salt, What Worlds and Moons, and Before the Sun; and two full-length collections of poems, Sword of Glass (Broadstone Books) and How We Met (Kelsay Books).
He is an ordained Zen Buddhist priest, having trained in both the US and Japan. He is married to the psychologist and Zen teacher Grace Jill Schireson with whom he co-edited Zen Bridge: The Zen Teachings of Keido Fukushima.
Peter and Jill live in Palm Springs, California.
