Sandra Becker was selected as the 2014 Bucks County Poet Laureate by Judges Kim Addonizio and Kasey Jueds. She has published four books of poetry: Dread Islands (Kelsay Books, 2015), Imperfect Matter (WordTech, 2013), At the Well of Flowers (Virtual Artists’ Collective, 2011), and Foreign Bodies (Carolina Wren Press, 2004).

Sandra’s poem “Sometimes a Girl” was selected and performed by esteemed theater professionals, Kathleen Mulhearn and Marilyn Yoblick in 2016 at Rhythm and Verse, A Literary and Music Salon in Montgomery County, PA. On September 27, 2014, her poem, “A City Girl Feeds Country Cows,” was read on Garrison Keillor’s Writer’s Almanac. Sandra’s poem “Sanctification of the Ordinary” was selected to be part of The James A Michener Museum collaborative art and poetry exhibition in Doylestown, PA titled Making Magic: Beauty in Word and Image, which ran November 3, 2012 to March 31, 2013. In 2000, she received a first place award from the National League of American Pen Women, Simi Valley Branch for her poem, “Honor the Stones.”

Sandra Becker lives in Chalfont, Pennsylvania. She works as a poetry editor, serving other poets with manuscript critique and commentary. She also works with individuals with special needs.

She continues to gain artistic sustenance, enrichment, love, and support from the very talented poets of Bucks and Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania.
