Ron Roth’s poetry, fiction, and nonfiction appear in the Bellingham Review, South Dakota Review, Great River Review, Panhandler, The McGuffin, and other publications. His poems also appear in the annual poetry anthology of the South Carolina Bards. His short story collection, The Way They Thought That Love Should Be, included “The Glittering Kingdom,” which was nominated for the Pushcart Prize.
Roth wrote and narrated a popular statewide weekly radio program on the arts for Nebraska Public Radio. Recently, he completed his first novel, The Soldier. In 2020, his nonfiction history was published by McFarland Books: The Civil War in the South Carolina Lowcountry: How a Confederate Artillery Battery and a Black Union Regiment Defined the War.
He received his bachelor’s degree in history and English from Case Western Reserve University, and a Master’s-at-Teaching in Museum Education from George Washington University.
