Mary Hills Kuck, a native Midwesterner, has spent most of her adult life in the US Northeast and in Jamaica, West Indies, where she accompanied her husband to teach at The United Theological College in Kingston as Lutheran missionaries. She also taught at the Vocational Training Development Institute in Kingston. Since retiring from teaching German, English, and ESOL, she has settled in Massachusetts with her husband and family. Her joys are her children and five grandchildren, the woods where she lives, and the community of the faithful. She has published poems in The Connecticut River Review, SLANT, Tipton Poetry Journal, Burningword Literary Journal, From the Depths, Poetry Quarterly, Main St. Rag, Amethyst, The Lyric, and a number of other journals. Intermittent Sacraments, her chapbook, was published in 2021 by Finishing Line Press. One of her poems was nominated for a Pushcart Prize, another was set to music in Let Us Sing! Contemporary Art Songs for Young Singers (Sarah Marze, 2022).
