Jo Taylor was born in rural Middle Georgia in the fifties, the seventh of nine children. After graduating from the University of Georgia in 1976 with a BA in English, she taught high school English for thirty-five years. Today she lives in Covington, Georgia, with her husband, enjoying writing poetry, taking online poetry classes, and visiting with her two grandsons in Alabama. She self-published her first collection of poems, Strange Fire, in 2021.
