I have been writing poetry for over eight decades (yes, I am 94). Dusk, however, represents my first published volume of poetry. Composing informed all of my degrees: B.A., Magna Cum Laude, Mount Holyoke College; M.A., University of Michigan; and Ed.D, Harvard University. My honorary degrees are from Monmouth University (Ed.D) and my alma mater (Doctor Humane Letters). My Harvard dissertation, The Composing Processes of Twelfth Graders, has had a great influence upon the teaching of writing and rhetoric. For forty years I taught in graduate teacher education at the University of Chicago and Rutgers State University of New Jersey. Since retirement I have lived most of my years in Sanibel Island and Naples, Florida. I hope that readers will find Dusk a worthy addition to the genre.
