Jean Biegun discovered the power and joy of poetry in a magical creative writing course in the century-turning year 2000. [Thank you, Prof. Bruce Gans.] After a career in special education with the Chicago Public Schools, she retired to rural Wisconsin. There in the town of Two Rivers, she wrote nature poems for Woodland Dunes Nature Center’s seasonal newsletter for many years and published the chapbook Waking Up at Woodland Dunes in support of the preserve. Now living in California, she appreciates having found thriving communities of poets across the country from large cities and farm regions to university towns.
