Mary McCarthy is a retired Registered Nurse who has always been a writer and artist. Her work has appeared in many journals and anthologies, including The Ekphrastic World, edited by Lorette Luzajic; The Plague Papers, edited by Robbi Nester; and recent issues of Earth’s Daughters, 3rd Wednesday, Caustic Frolic, Verse Virtual, and Gyroscope. She has been a Pushcart and Best of the Net nominee. She has also had a lifelong struggle with Bipolar illness, experiencing all that means in terms of work, career, relationships, and identity. Even now, this is unsettled territory, filled with sudden obstacles, surprises, trials and occasional blessings.
