In 2004, Toni Treadway was invited by Rhina Espaillat to the monthly workshop of the Powow River Poets, north of Boston. Toni has benefitted from the insights, generous spirits and craftsmanlike focus on the poem by the diverse people at the table. In 2015, Toni agreed to organize the Powow’s reading series at the Newburyport Public Library.
Toni continues to work with Bob Brodsky, in a technical and artistic collaboration that dates to 1974. They have received two-lifetime achievement awards as advocates for and restorers of old motion picture film for museums, archives and independent documentary producers of Public Television.
Toni loves trying to express and share unusual relationships. She finds poetry helps her create a kind of harmony even when she is describing turmoil. She enjoys art and music and is learning classical and new composers by singing in the Newburyport Choral Society.
She is grateful for her loved ones and the many communities that nurture and sustain her.
