Melinda Rizzo wrote her first poem when she was about five years old. She’s been writing poetry ever since that bright yellow, No. 2 pencil scribble—acknowledged as real art by her mother.

A freelance reporter and writer by trade, she believes poetry informs her non-fiction work, which circles back to feed her poetry.

Her media and publishing career of more than 30 years began with typesetting seed catalogs at W. Atlee Burpee. It continued with producing first printing self-help, craft, cooking and gardening books at the former Rodale Press in Emmaus. It continues with reporting news and features for B2B, local and regional publications. She also works to further the mission of Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, through their online blog, various content, and annual membership directory and community profile.

While digital content reigns and not one of us knows where the next information revolution will lead, there is nothing, nothing, like ink on paper. For authentic escape, growth and learning the look, feel and discovery found by turning the pages of a book is nonpareil.

Melinda shares a 200-year-old farmhouse, writes, bakes, cooks and gardens in rural Upper Bucks County, Pennsylvania, with her childhood sweetheart and husband Phil, their young adult son Adam, and a fine succession of English Labrador retrievers—the best dogs in this universe, or any other!!
