Ed Ryterband was born in 1941 and raised in Queens, New York. His parents immigrated from Russia and Poland. Both of these facts informed his new book, Life on Cloud 8. He attended City University in NY and graduated in 1961, then went on to Purdue University where he got a PhD. in the psychology of leadership.
His first job was as in Athens, Greece. After he returned to the States, he consulted to various organizations, like Planned Parenthood, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Best Buy. Mid-way through his career, he took a break to become a standup comic; he was asked to become a regular at The Comic Strip in New York.
He’s married for thirty-six years and has two sons, Jason and Michael, with his wife Madelyne. About ten years ago he became serious about writing poetry. His poetry has been published in Paterson Literary Review, Two River Times and U.S. 1 Worksheets. He’s also performed his work at The Comic Strip, Mostly Magic, and The Piano Bar among other venues in New York.
