Jessie Carty's is the author of seven poetry collections. In March of 2010, Folded Word released her first full-length collection Paper House, which won the 2010 NCPA. It was also nominated for a SIBA award. Jessie’s chapbook An Amateur Marriage was a finalist for the 2011 Robert Watson Poetry Award. Her poem “Perhaps He Scrapbooks” won 1st Place in the 2013 Kakalak Poetry Contest.
Jessie works as a freelance editor, writer, and writing coach/teacher. She has also taught writing and literature courses as an adjunct and full-time faculty at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and UNC-Charlotte. Jessie founded the literary magazine Shape of a Box, YouTube's first literary magazine, as well the online journal Referential Magazine which is still in production. She received her MFA from Queens University of Charlotte.
