Phyllis Purscell spent her earlier writing life as a playwright. She was able to develop several plays as a member of the Women’s Project in New York City, and her play “Separate Ceremonies” was published in their first anthology of women’s plays. Ms. Purscell had a several years’ long involvement with the Princeton Rep Company and had plays produced in other theaters across the country. She’s been the recipient of grants from the arts councils of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. For the past few years, she has been an active participant in the community of poets found in and around Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
