Born in White Plains, NY, and raised in New Rochelle and Stratford, Connecticut, Matthew Johnson now lives and studies as a graduate student in Greensboro, NC. His family stretches from New England and New York down to North Carolina and the Thousand-Tale Delta, as well as westward. Formerly a sportswriter/editor for The Carolinian, USA Today College, and The Daily Star (Oneonta, NY), Johnson’s poetry has been published in several magazines, including Maudlin House and The Roanoke Review. Johnson was nominated by the Roanoke Review for Best of the Net 2017.
