Jan Duncan-O’Neal was born and raised in the greater Kansas City area. She majored in English, theatre, and education, and later earned an M.A. with distinction in library science from The University of Iowa where she later taught classes in storytelling and children’s literature.
Her poems have appeared in such publications as Coal City Review, The Mid-American Poetry Review, I-70 Review, The Orange Room Review, Kansas City Voices, The Whirlybird Anthology of Kansas City Writers, and Red Eft Review. Her work is included in the anthology A Taste of Poetry published by the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association. Jan has been a Pushcart Nominee.
