Karen Luke Jackson draws upon oral history, contemplative practices, and the natural world for inspiration. Her poems and stories have appeared in numerous journals including Ruminate, Broad River Review, One, Friends Journal, Channel Magazine, Emrys Journal, and Leaping Clear. Karen’s debut poetry chapbook GRIT (Finishing Line Press, 2020) chronicles her sister’s life as Clancey the Clown. Karen also co-edited, with Dr. Sally Z. Hare, The Story Mandala: Finding Wholeness in a Divided World.

A member of the North Carolina Poetry Society and the North Carolina Writers’ Network, Karen studied with Pat Riviere-Seel in the 2018 Gilbert-Chappell Distinguished Poet Series. She holds a doctorate in education and is a facilitator with the Center for Courage & Renewal. Living in a cottage on a goat pasture in the Blue Ridge Mountains and being a grandmother are two of her greatest joys. When she’s not writing, Karen companions people on their spiritual journeys.
